AfD's Chrupalla: "We Don't Have a Migration Problem, We Have a Birth Problem"
In an exclusive interview with DW, AfD federal spokesman and lead candidate Tino Chrupalla argues that Germany's migration problem is actually a birth problem.
"We don't have a migration problem, we have a birth problem," Chrupalla said. "The only sustainable solution to the demographic challenges facing Germany is to increase the birth rate of native Germans."
Chrupalla's comments come as the AfD is seeing a surge in support in Germany. The party won 12.6% of the vote in the recent European Parliament elections, making it the third-largest party in the country.
The AfD is a right-wing populist party that has been accused of racism and xenophobia. Chrupalla himself has been criticized for his anti-immigration rhetoric.
But Chrupalla insists that the AfD is not a racist party. "We are a party that is concerned about the future of Germany," he said.
"We want to make sure that Germany remains a prosperous and safe country for future generations. And the only way to do that is to increase the birth rate of native Germans."
